AI Policy

On using new tools without losing the human touch

I use AI tools — including ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity — to support my creative process, not replace it. They help me work more efficiently. They don’t do the work for me.

For clients who allow or encourage AI use, I may draw on these tools to brainstorm ideas, conduct research, suggest structure, or lightly finesse a draft. But the finished product is always written by me. Nothing I deliver is wholly AI-generated.

A few things I hold firm on regardless:

  • Accuracy is nonnegotiable. Because AI hallucinations are real, I personally verify every fact and source before anything goes to a client.

  • Your confidential information stays confidential. I never enter sensitive or proprietary data into third-party platforms.

  • Your policies come first. If your organization prefers I limit or avoid AI tools altogether, I’m happy to follow your lead.

After all, I’ve been a writer far longer than these tools have existed. The instincts, the judgment, and the craft are mine — and that’s what clients are actually hiring.
